DEF LEPPARD GUITARIST VIVIAN CAMPBELL’S CANCER HAS RETURNED

Viviancampbell-306 Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell’s cancer has returned – but he insists he’s not concerned at the development.

He got the all-clear in November after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the beginning of last year.

Now he’s undergoing more treatment ahead of his band’s US tour with KISS, and it means he’s missed songwriting sessions with the band.

Campbell tells Gater 98.7: “I’m doing good. It seems to be kind of coming back. But I’m not concerned about it – I mean, it’s just a process. It always was a little touch-and-go. I need to get a handle on it so I’m free and clear to tour this summer. All good.”

He recently hailed fellow cancer victim Wilko Johnson for continuing to work through his illness, saying: ” I always suspected that Wilko was too tough for that pussy-assed cancer shit. Turns out I was right.”

Meanwhile, former UFO bassist Pete Way has reported he’s starting to recover from radiotherapy for prostate cancer. He says: “I’ll get the result as to whether it’s worked in a couple of months, so it’s a waiting game now.

“I’m still on hormone therapy and I can’t wait to stop that so I can get back to my normal shape and size. Provided I’m given the all-clear I’ll be going flat-out to release my new album Walking On The Edge and get back on the road, where I belong.”

  1. Well, for one, no one deserves to get cancer. That’s really harsh. I also used to believe he was bad towards RJD, but I’ve heard other stories that changed my view on the whole situation. The bottom line is that Vivian and the other band members that played on the first 3 albums, were barely paid anything. Even on tour, they got about $300 A WEEK. That’s thievery to me. I’m sure there are plenty of other details and deals, but that’s pretty shitty.

Regardless, best of luck to Vivian in conquering this disease.

  2. Congratulations on the posting the stupidest post on the history of this website. If it’s your desire that anyone who treats someone unjustly receives cancer, we’d all be dead from that disease by now. How about staying off your computer for a few days you ignorant prick. Gonna wish cancer on me now?

  3. There’s nothing good about cancer, I’ve lost family to it and known plenty of others who have too. I wouldn’t wish it on someone I hated. I hope Vivian recovers and is able to contribute some angry riffs and solos to new Def Leppard material. Best wishes and good luck to you Vivian Campbell.

  4. WTF dude. Because Vivian and Ronnie didn’t see eye to eye..because both had harsh things to say about one another at various times, you think he deserves this. Did RJD deserve it? Dear Lord, man get a grip.
